Giving back

Every year at holiday time, we participate in an event that is very important to all of us at Primal Elements. Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times Holiday Party is an all day carnival for kids and their families that have serious and challenging health issues. Tomorrow is our annual event. We bring our soapmaking experience to this event and have a truly inspiring day making soap and sharing some fun with these kids and their families. It is really amazing that something so simple as a bar of soap can bring such big smiles, not just to the faces of the kids but to ours as well. I hope in this season of caring you are able to bring some joy to others as well. Have a good week.

Peace,

Faith

Basket Case

In just one week from today it will be Black Friday, believed to be the busiest shopping day of the year. We have decided to try something new at Primal Elements and create Gift Baskets this season. I like to think I am a championship shopper so I would never discourage a shopping trip, but if you get tired or need a break why not shop from the couch? Take a look at our Gift Baskets and see what fun new gifts you can find.

Have a Good Weekend,

Faith

The Fireplace

My husband just turned the fireplace on for the first time this season. (Okay, we live in Southern California so we turn on our fireplaces; we don’t light real logs). I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of the flames. I forgot how hypnotic the colors are as they dance around the logs. Our Flames soap and Flames Icon Candle captures this feeling, so please take a look at our Flames soap and candle, the colors are rich and bright and the fragrance is warm and woodsy like a grandfathers pipe. It has deep notes of vanilla and cherry wrapped in tobacco leaf. This soap and candle will warm the spirit and put you in the mood for the cooler days coming up.

Have a good week,

Dave's Dragon Dust

I wanted to share with you that I am a chile pepper farmer. I grow about 30+ varieties of Habanero and the hottest chile in the world, Bhut Jolokia ( ghost Pepper ) I make a product called Dave's Dragon Dust, which is made up of all the hottest chiles in the world. I cut and process these by hand, getting the oils from the chiles on my hands. after one session of processing, my hands burn!! So I started washing them frequently with "Ariel" that we have always had at the sink and it cuts through the chile oils and cleans the capsaicin (alkyloid that makes chiles hot) better than anything I've tried. If you have any input as to what is in your soap that contributes to this I'd love to know. I have also been passing this info on to fellow chileheads/farmers that have the same issues processing chiles. I have tried wearing gloves but just can't do it. Anyway, Thanks for your time and GREAT product!!

Sincerely,

Dave

‘Tis the Season

Football season is in full swing. I was watching 60 Minutes but when I went upstairs to change into my pajamas a cruel trick was played on me. The channel had been changed. Football was on. So that gave me my inspiration for today’s writing. Normally I don’t talk much about Football; but how about a slice of Primal Elements Football soap to decorate the bath or shower of the football fan in the house. It’s clean, fresh fragrance is a real crowd pleaser and will certainly provide enjoyment to even the football challenged folks in the house….like me!

Have a good week!

Winterfall

Last weekend our family took a trip to Chicago for a family gathering. I was checking the weather reports days prior to the trip, and I was filled with disappointment to learn that it would be gray, dreary, and rainy. I was pleasantly surprised with what would come. The rain cleared away and we experienced a virtual rainbow of colors. The leaves on the trees were the most vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Piles of leaves on the ground were rich browns and russet. I thought about our Winterfall soap . The colors of the season combined with the crisp fragrance truly mimic the beautiful fall days we experienced during our weekend in the Windy City.

Have a great week,

Fish in a Bag

We have two dogs that have been with us for many, many years, Rusty and Ginger. We love spending time with them and they bring so much joy to our lives, but much like small children, they need a lot of tender loving care. One of the challenges we face as dog owners, is that when we want to go away for an extended period we have to arrange for a doggie sitter. I often wondered, what if there was a pet that doesn’t need much care, doesn’t need to be fed, and could stay in the house without having to be walked twice a day. Ta Da! Fish in a Bag. A charming little plastic goldfish swims in a pool of vegetable glycerin soap, fragranced with our favorite Facets of the Sea aroma. Our cute little fish soap is just like the carnival prize in a plastic bag tied with a pretty ribbon, but this fish doesn’t need to be fed. So don’t feel guilty if you leave home for a few hours, Fish in a Bag will be on your soap dish waiting for your next bath time experience. Of course they can’t replace Rusty and Ginger.

Have a Great Week!

Jack

Our trade publications tell us that Halloween has passed Valentine’s Day as the holiday that people spend the most money on for home decorating. Ghosts, goblins, and witches are everywhere; but I see pumpkins around every corner of our factory. One of our most popular soaps is called Jack. We just can’t make this soap fast enough. Jack is a friendly jack-o-lantern in rich orange hues of fall with bright yellow eyes, nose, and mouth. The decadent aroma of pumpkin, spice, and creamy vanilla fill the air in the factory causing a pumpkin pie craving to kick in. Check out our Jack soap and share some Halloween fun with family and friends.

Have a spicy week,

Stained Glass

I love going out to our candle department and looking at all the glistening pieces of gel cut and waiting to be placed in our Color Bowl Candles. The vibrant colors of the rainbow and the sparkling glittery pieces just beckon for you to come and play with them. Of course, the tactile fun of these jelly-like pieces serve a more important purpose. They create the brilliant stained glass effect that makes our patented Color Bowl Candles so unique. Each candle is handmade using the finest vegetable wax blend and sparkling gel pieces to provide hours of aromatic delight with an original glow. With the seasons beginning to change, the warm glow of candles enhances any environment so why not add a Primal Elements Color Bowl Candle to brighten your fall décor.

Have a good week,

A Bowl of Cherries

I was making dinner tonight, when I looked out the kitchen window and realized it was getting darker earlier. It gave me pause to think about how quickly summer came and went. Even though we are enduring a heat wave in Southern California, the days are getting shorter. One of the great pleasures of summer is the deep red cherries. With summer leaving, the cherries will be gone too so I will have to make some fragrant substitutions at home. I have been using our Tahitian Vanilla three in one, but I will quickly switch it out for Cherry Vanilla. The Cherries soap we produce is so sweet and delicious; I will have to grab a bar and swap out the geranium that is in my bathroom so I can savor a small slice of those sweet summer days. With the fall season approaching, candles create a warm glow, so my first pick for the season will be our decadent Cherry Vanilla Color Bowl, just to hold on to the dwindling days of my favorite summer treat.

Have a Good Week

Autumn Leaves

Summer in Southern California can go well into October, but this weekend was actually sweater weather. The days were beautiful and warm but as soon as the sun went away, the fog began to roll in and there was a distinct chill in the air. It took me by surprise since we have been experiencing warmer than normal days this summer. I started to think about how quickly fall would really be here and which soaps I would be changing out in my bathroom. I love the smell of our Autumn Leaves Soap. It has a rich, warm subtly nutty aroma; like roasted chestnuts. The colors are a palette of autumn hues. So if you are in the mood to say farewell to summer and embrace the cooler days of fall ahead, try a bar of our Autumn Leaves Soap to push that feeling along.

Have a good week,

Faith

A slice of Summer

The summer show season is winding down so we were able to enjoy a little rest and relaxation this weekend. Sunday was a beautiful day in Huntington Beach, CA. We decided to enjoy the backyard and swim and have a barbeque. After all the good food we sliced some juicy red watermelon. It was sweet as sugar! So it made me think about our Watermelon Soap. It too is sweet and juicy and provides a sweet experience in the shower or bath. For a sweet summer treat, unwrap a bar and enjoy a slice of summer.

Have a great week,

Orange You Glad

I went shopping this weekend; a little retail therapy was definitely in order. There seemed to be one common thread in all of the goodies I spotted. Orange! The bright, vibrant color was everywhere. Whether it was clothing, jewelry or housewares, orange, tangerine or clementine---these are the colors for the end of summer. The uplifting hues got me thinking about what we do in these cheerful tones Of course one of my favorites is our Orange Cantaloupe soap. This is one of our oldest designs, but one of our favorites. The fragrance is so bright and bold you can’t help but smile when you smell it. Clementine, Grapefruit and Sunrise Sunset soap each feature brilliant shades of orange with sunny fragrances to boost the spirits. New to the lineup, Grapefruit Sugar Whip and Bubbles, our new bubble bath. These two items team up with their sweet and tart burst of citrus aroma and will surely become summertime favorites.

My summer shopping trip gave me some good inspiration for upcoming trends. Stay tuned for my fall shopping trip—I understand we will see a lot of Purple Reign!

Have a great week,

Faith

New York, New York

There is no city in the world as exciting as New York City! We spent the past five days in New York at the Gift Show; meeting our customers and sharing our new products with them. This show provides a wonderful opportunity to meet our customers and learn about what is working well in their stores and what may need some improvement. On this trip, we were fortunate to meet people from Latin America, France and Japan; each looking for unique products for their stores. We were so proud to be a part of interesting products they will be bringing home to their countries.

Each evening as the show came to a close the only thing I could think about was getting off my feet, but then as I step outside there is New York in all her glory. The thoughts of resting my tired feet fell by the wayside. I couldn’t wait to get outside and walk around to explore the city. This never gets old for me and my family as well. We had a great time this summer during our New York trip. So here’s looking forward to seeing you all again in January!

Best,

Faith

Rescue Me!

The end of this week we will be traveling to the New York International Gift Show. This show is always exciting to attend, but it also means another long, cross-country flight in a stuffy cabin with recycled air and a bad movie before arriving in New York City. So after thirteen years of frequent flyer miles, I had the ah ha moment. Why not create a product that would help make the journey a bit more pleasant. This was the birth of our Rescue Rollettes. Six portable, synergistic blends that help promote the feeling of well being. Each of the six blends contains pure essential oils and rich oils in its alcohol free base. I like to toss three of these blends in my carry-on bag to use in flight. When the air gets stuffy, I use the Breath blend. I roll a bit on to a tissue, tuck it in the sleeve of my shirt, and pull it out to inhale every so often just to clear my head. If I’m looking for a little nap the Relaxation blend helps to calm and relax so maybe I’ll be able to drift off (as long as there isn’t a crying baby nearby).

There is nothing more exciting than finally getting to New York; one of my favorite cities in the world. The city is amazing so I don’t want to miss a beat when I am there. This is when my Energize Rescue Rollette comes out of my purse. I roll it a couple of times on my pulse points for a quick burst of energy. I’m looking forward to an exciting time in New York and look forward to meeting many new and interesting people while we are at the show. I’ll let you know next week how it goes.

Have a good week,

Faith

Geraniums

We recently planted geraniums in our front and back yards for that beautiful shot of color they provide. The striking shades of hot pink and purple with their rich green leaves really gave the yards a needed summer pick me up. So this got me thinking about one of our older soaps that I feel has been neglected. Our Geranium Cuvee Soap is made with pure geranium essential oil and has been redesigned to feature small pink flowers and crisp green leaves. Coincidentally, my husband brought a bar home to shave with. Geranium essential oil has wonderful antiseptic properties and works well with all skin types. But the best benefit of this enticing soap bar is how aromatic our bedroom and bathroom is now. The uplifting aroma of the Geranium essential oil is permeating the air throughout these two rooms. It is such a great feeling to walk into those two rooms and experience the aroma, and then smiling when I realize it is the Geranium soap. I hope you will give this bar a try and have the same pleasant experience that we do with one of our classic gems.

Have a good week,

Happy Birthday

Tonight’s writing takes me down a reflective path. Usually I chose to write about a product or an ingredient that I find interesting, but this weekend we have been celebrating a special birthday. My daughter is turning twenty-seven tomorrow, on the twenty seventh. That makes this her golden birthday. So, instead of talking to you as a business owner or as a designer, I come to you as a mother of a really neat kid. Well, she really isn’t a kid anymore but a fantastic woman. I am lucky to have such an exceptional woman in my life and I am thankful that we are all here together as a family to celebrate her special day. So in Primal Element s fashion, let’s have a slice of Birthday Cake Soap or light a Happy Birthday Wish Bowl Candle in honor of her birthday and in honor of all the great kids that we as mothers are lucky to have in our lives.

Have a wonderful week,

Faith

When Your Own Initials Are Enough

I love carrying the latest “It” handbags as much as the next girl, but in today’s wacky economic climate it seems kind of nutty to drop down that kind of cash for a trendy bag. We came up with an idea to soothe our cravings for the initials we have become so attached to; our Monogram Candles. These original candles are hand-poured in beautiful pure white glass and adorned with sparkling jet black rhinestones. These candles feature an amazing blackberry amber fragrance and fills the room with hours and hours of luminous light and fragrance. With our Monogram Candles you have the ability to spell out a message or place your own initials in various rooms of the house. So forget about the new bag and splurge on your own initials and not that trendy designer name! It’s a great feeling when you know that your own initials are enough.
Have a wonderful week,

Tiny Bubbles

I have always been a bath person; give me a tub of rich creamy bubbles over a shower any day. The funny thing about this is, we have never really had a true bubble bath in our line. Don’t get me wrong; I love our 3in1 product, but it’s just not the same. Finally, we have created a true bubble bath. This is a luxury bubble bath that comes in four amazing fragrances, Cupcake, Grapefruit, Sparkling Sugar, and Tahitian Vanilla. But even better, the package is just so cute! The sleek cylinder is accented with lustrous white pearls that spell out the word Bubbles. A tub of rich creamy bubbles and a stylish package to dress up my bathroom---I’m feeling pretty clever right now! Please check this new product out; we’d love to hear what you think.

All the Best,

Faith

A Day at the Beach

This past weekend we celebrated the Fourth of July. Spending the time by the water, I thought about all of our items that have seashore images. Our first soap inspired by the ocean is Facets of the Sea. This is truly an oldie but goodie however, it is a favorite for so many people. Its calming turquoise color is enhanced with cubes of aqua and lavender, and the aroma is a fresh sea spray; you can almost smell the salt is this beautiful soap.

Beach Glass, Ginger Fish, and Marine Life transport you to a day at the beach. I have to tell you though; our Life’s A Beach is one of my favorites. It looks like an umbrella you would see on the sands of San Tropez. Now we have a Cool Blue Icon Candles with sparkling crystals. This beautiful combination will enhance any room or bathroom. Since many of us cannot quite escape to the French Riviera, I think these beautiful “gems” from the sea will make suitable substitutes. I hope you enjoy these beautiful items as much as I do.
Happy Summer,
Faith

Floral Soaps

I am always asked which soap is my favorite. Of course, I cannot answer that question since we have so many beautiful designs with incredible fragrances. However, this time of year leads me down the garden path. Flowers are blooming everywhere, color is so vivid, and the air is perfumed so delicately. Lilac, Lily of the Valley, and Pikaki are a sampling of our soaps in the Primal Elements flower garden and the beauty of these blossoms; they continue to bloom all year long, year after year. So I urge you to pick a flower and enjoy the bouquet of fragrance possibilities in your bathroom.

Have a Wonderful Week,

Lovely Lavender

This past weekend, my son, my husband and I traveled to Las Vegas to visit an industry trade show. There is a lot of excitement that surrounds a trade show, but they can be tedious as well. There are the long lines, the endless rows of product to scout and the steady flow of people walking up and down the aisles. As we were walking, I noticed one common thread; the lovely smell of lavender permeating the air in the convention center. If you have not taken the time to actually smell lavender essential oil or products made with this wonderful essential oil I recommend you do so. We have two lovely soaps, Lavender Oatmeal and Lavender Essential Oil. The lovely aroma of this beautiful oil has the ability to relax and calm. So if you are having “one of those days” please take the time to stop and smell the lavender.

Have a wonderful week,

Faith

How Sweet It Is

You spoke and we listened. Sugar Whip is back! Our creamy sweet exfoliating scrub has been on a vacation for a while. We got so many letters and phone calls that we had to bring this product back. We have added even more pure cane sugar for better exfoliation. And now Sugar Whip is paraben free and free of any dyes or artificial colors. Sugar Whip comes in four fantastic fragrances; Cupcake, Grapefruit, Sparkling Sugar and Tahitian Vanilla. You have to see how cute the package is too. Brightly colored labels are enhanced with glistening crystals to make your bathroom look sweet too! Enjoy!
